Yidan Education Forum

Yidan Education Forum is an international education summit organized by Chen Yidan Foundation, which was founded in 2020. The forum aims to build a platform for dialogue between educational researchers and practitioners around the frontier issues of educational innovation, so as to promote high-level and sustainable development of educational innovation in both theory and practice.


Yidan Education Forum 2020 was held at Peking University. The forum brought together scholars from all over mainland China, Hong Kong, United States, Canada, Japan, and several other regions to discuss and debate on themes such as progression, integration, challenges and trends, within the field of liberal education.


Yidan Education Forum 2021 was held in Beijing by Chen Yidan Foundation (CYDF) and Peking University’s Graduate School of Education (GSE-PKU) and the Institute of Economics of Education.Nearly 40 scholars, experts, and officials from international organisations and local education departments, primary and secondary school principals and entrepreneurs from China, Germany, UK, Finland, Denmark, Singapore and Bangladesh attended the conference in person or virtually. For 2021, CYDF's keyword for the year is “education ecosystem”. The participants thus discussed and debated themes such as: collaborative innovation, technology trends, effective governance, and opportunities and challenges of the ecosystem. The hope was to share ideas and suggestions on building a future-oriented, sustainable education ecosystem.


Yidan Education Forum 2022 focused on the theme of “Learning Ecosystem for the Future: Family, School, Society”, approximately 50 scholars and experts from the Mainland of China, Hong Kong of China, Finland, the United Kingdom, Denmark, the United States and other countries and regions joined the dialogues on the new visions, theories, strategies, and collaborative innovation for the future of learning ecosystem. Experts from international education organizations such as UNESCO, Yidan Prize, OECD, and the LEGO Foundation also attended the Forum and presented their research results.

 

The ecosystem for educational innovation in bay areas was a focus of discussion at the Forum. Experts from China and other countries said that major bay areas across the world are the leaders for exploring the learning ecosystem for the future and inexhaustible sources of innovations in future learning. Education drives innovation, and innovation drives the sustainable development of the society. The positive interactions of schools, families, and societies as different providers of education will generate tremendous impetus for social progress. In the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, educational innovation is also booming, evidenced by the real cases shared by several education innovators in the Greater Bay Area, including the International Centre for Higher Education Innovation under the auspices of UNESCO, Yidan Prize, Whittle School and Studios Shenzhen, Lingnan University, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou), Guangdong Museum, Guangdong Museum of Art, Shenzhen Mingde Experimentary School (Group), etc.
